Box Office Results

There’s a new number one movie at the box office.  Paul Blart: Mall Cop starring Kevin James.  It made over $30 million. This is Kevin’s third number one movie.  The other two were Hitch with Will Smith and I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry with Adam Sandler.  Last week’s number one movie Gran Torino fell to number 2 by only 25 percent with over $20 million.  Three other new releases debuted in the top 5.  My Bloody Valentine 3-D opened at number 3 with over $20 million and Notorious opened at number 4 with over $20 million.  For more on Notorious, check out my article Violence Surrounding Notorious Movie. Hotel For Dogs came in at number 5 with over $17 million.  Golden Globe winner Slumdog Millionaire is back in the top 10 coming in at number 10 with over $5 million.  The movie will expand to more than 1200 theaters next weekend.  It has made $42.7 million in 10 weeks.  t was a good weekend at the box office since the top 5 movies made no less than $17 million.

  2. Gran Torino - $22.2 million
  3. My Bloody Valentine 3-D $21.9 million
  4. Notorious $21.5 million
  5. Hotel for Dogs $17.7 million
  6. Bride Wars $11.75 million
  7. The Unborn - $9.8 million
  8. Defiance - $9.2 million
  9. Marley & Me - $6.3 million
  10. Slumdog Millionaire - $5.9 million

    Slumdog Millionaire releases over here in India this weekend. I’m sure it’s going to have a great opening.
