Barack Obama brother arrested

barack-obama.jpg

George Obama, the half-brother of President Barack Obama, was arrested on January 31, 2009.  He was arrested for alleged possession of marijuana near his home in a Nairobi shantytown.  George had one joint of marijuana when he was arrested.  He has a court appearance on February 2, 2009.

George is in his 20s and he barely knows Barack.  The two have the same father who died in a car crash in 1982.  While many of Barack’s family were at his inauguration in Washington, George was not there.  There were reports over the summer that George lived in a shack and earned a dollar a day.  George denied the claims and considered them insulting.  George is the youngest of their father’s seven children.  He was born six months after their father died.  In the president’s book “Dreams From My Father”, he described George as a “handsome, roundheaded boy with a wary gaze.”  Could this have been the last time Barack saw George?  Since he referred to George as a “boy”, could that be an indication of when he saw him last?

The White House declined to comment on this situation.  I’m not surprised because Barack wasn’t that close to him.  This isn’t good timing for Barack considering the crisis he has to deal with trying to fix the country.  This is the last thing Barack needs to deal with now.  I wonder if George will try to get in contact with Barack now that he’s in trouble.  I can see him trying to capitalize on the fact that his brother is the president of the United States.

I would not doubt he would try to get in touch with his brother! I bet Barack tries to the do the right thing and helps him. I so see this not leading to a good thing.

I agree. I think he will end up helping him too. George will probably make trouble for Barack if he doesn’t.

This is very unfortunate for Barack given the present situation of the country’s economy..I think he will help geotge out to prevent any further controversies..

I think you’re right, arthi. He will most likely help him so things won’t get any worse.

I am surprised that this has been allowed to get out. I would have thought they would have tried to cover it up at all costs. It doesn’t look very good on Barak, but then it is part of the stick you have to take being President. I was taking marjuana once and I am so glad I got off it, it can really mess your head up in a bad way. I already have some anxiety problems and marjuana just made things a whole lot worse.

    Best Regards
