Is Etta James feuding with Beyonce
Soul singer Etta James may be feuding with Beyonce. It has been reported that Etta is not happy that Beyonce sang her hit song “At Last” during President Barack Obama’s inauguration ball. He and his wife Michelle danced to Beyonce’s version of the song “At Last”. It turns out that Etta James is reportedly upset that Beyonce sang her song during the dance. Etta allegedly wants to beat Beyonce up for singing her song. Etta reportedly thought that Beyonce had no business singing her song. She also claims that she can’t stand Beyonce. This is weird because she was happy with Beyonce’s performance in the movie Cadillac Records in which she plays the soul singer.
I don’t know if this is true or not, but I wanted to keep you informed on the possible feud between the two singers. If this is true, it would be ironic of Etta to be upset with Beyonce for singing her song when Etta remade “At Last” too. Glenn Miller originally sang the song. It was then remade by Nat King Cole 4 years before Etta sang her version of the song. I have never heard Glenn Miller’s or Nat King Cole’s versions of the song. I have only heard Etta James’. If this is true, why is Etta starting this drama with Beyonce? Could she be jealous that she wasn’t asked to sing the song herself? Is she trying to gain attention by insulting Beyonce? I saw the performance that Beyonce gave at the ball and I thought that she did a great job. I think Etta needs to be happy that the song was revived instead of starting trouble with Beyonce. I think Etta is just trying to get people to talk about her again.

I would think she would be flattered, but I think it is like you said she was jealous she was not asked to attend.
I thankfully saw this show, because of the hype it created it was aired here in a new channel..I think that Beyonce did a great job and Etta should be glad that the song got such publicity
I didn’t see Beyonce’s version. I just watched Obama’s speech. Although I’m not a big fan of hers, I don’t think that the way Etta handled it especially publicly was appropriate. If she wanted to perform the song there, then maybe she should have said something and a duet could have been done. They may not have asked her, because she’s been an Obama critic in the past. Who knows, but that’s not a very flattering thing to do before people. What really makes a legend is not only talent or style, but grace as well. You covered this topic well. I really like your blog, and would like to say thank you for your comments on mine.
Etta was joking, but maybe there was some truth in it and she was brave enough to say what others were thinking. A bit like Sharon Osbourne, hey? I think there was something deeper though Etta was probably very upset that Beyonce didn’t ask her to sing with her.
Best Regards
