More News About Natasha Richardson

As I reported in my blog yesterday, Natasha Richardson suffered a serious head injury in a skiing accident.  Well unfortunately, she has taken a turn for the worse.  She had to be rushed to a New York hospital because she was suffering from pains in her head.  She was fine when the incident first happened, but she ended up suffering from pain.  Now it looks like things are worse than originally reported.  Natasha reportedly has leakage on her brain and skull.

A family friend has said that there isn’t much hope that she will get better.  She is basically brain dead right now.  Her heart is beating, but her brain is dead.  The family may end up having to make a horrible decision about her.  Unfortunately, that must mean that she is hooked up to a machine and is only surviving because of it.  The family is still continuing to pray for her to get better.

I feel so bad for Natasha and her family. This must be a really horrible time for them.  She is a mother of young kids and they are possibly about to lose their mother.  It breaks my heart to think that they may lose their mother like this.  She had something to look forward to doing.  She was about to do a play with her mother actress Vanessa Redgrave and now she is in the fight of her life.  I can only imagine how her husband actor Liam Neeson is handling this too. He just had a successful movie Taken and now he has to deal with this. It’s sad to think that a celebrity couple who appeared happy together now has to deal with something like this.

I will continue to pray that she will get better.  There may still be hope for her as long the family doesn’t give up on her.  I have a cousin who just had a stroke and he slipped into a coma.  He was on a machine and he was told that he only had three days to live.  He miraculously woke up and he is getting better.  Maybe the same thing could happen for Natasha.

Look Slimmer Without Dieting

dark-clothes.jpg

Believe it or not, there are ways to look as if you lost weight without dieting or exercising.  It’s all about the clothes you wear.  If you pick the right clothes, you can look slimmer.  I like the idea of looking smaller without having to diet and exercise.  I must stress that it is important to diet and exercise, but there’s nothing wrong with looking smaller when you are trying to lose weight.  If there are ways too look slimmer, it’s worth a try.  With that said, I found some ways to look slimmer.

Stick to one color
Darker colors help you appear slimmer.  I always wear dark colors so that wouldn’t be a problem for me.  Black and dark blue are particular favorites of mine.

Ban baggy clothes
Wearing fitted clothes actually makes you look thinner than wearing baggy clothes.  I was under the impression that baggy clothes made you look thinner.  I didn’t realize that fitted clothes are what made you look smaller.

Pick vibrant accessories
Wear bright accessories to liven up your look.  If it’s bright enough, maybe people will focus on your accessory and not your outfit.

Choose the right belt
You should wear a thinner, more proportioned belt over blouses.  Wider belts make your hips look bigger.  The last thing you would want to do is make your hips look bigger if the goal is to appear smaller.  I know it’s the last thing I would want.

Hopefully these tips will help you all look slimmer when you want to appear as if you’ve lost weight.  Since the tips don’t cost anything, why not give them a try.  I know I will.  Every little bit helps.

Lose Weight with Vinegar

apple-cider-vinegar.jpg

As the informer, I wanted to inform you of the versatile ways that vinegar can help you in your daily life.  Vinegar is very powerful as well as versatile. One of the most important ways that vinegar can help you is that it helps you lose weight! That’s right! Adding vinegar in your water can help you lose weight and I’m going to tell you how to do it.

Lose Weight with Vinegar
Add a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar in two cups of warm water BEFORE each meal.  It helps reduce the appetite and makes it easier for you to lose weight.  I’ve tried this and it does work for that. Whenever I drink the tonic, my appetite is suppressed. I don’t really feel like eating that much afterwards.  It’s also supposed to help speed up your metabolism which is always a good thing.  Using this tonic would be cheaper than buying diet pills that work the same way. It’s also safer to drink vinegar than it is to take strange pills that could do your body more harm than good.

There are other uses of vinegar that can help you out with your daily life too. It is also good for:

Dizziness
To prevent dizziness or reduce the severity of it, you have to drink a vinegar and honey cocktail.  Mix two teaspoons of apple cider vinegar and two teaspoons of honey into half a cup of water.  Drink the tonic twice a day. This will lessen your symptoms of dizziness. I used to drink this tonic religiously and I don’t have dizziness like that anymore.

Chronic Headaches
If you suffer from chronic headaches, try taking one tablespoon of vinegar each morning and evening and before breakfast and dinner.  If your headaches are really bad, then you can take two tablespoons instead of one. I must warn you that this is very nasty.

Hiccups
To get rid of hiccups, sip a glass of warm water with one teaspoon of vinegar added.  You should drink the whole glass all at once, but slowly and the hiccups should be gone.  I haven’t tried this particular remedy so I’m not sure if it will work. You might have your own trick to get rid of them, but it’s worth a shot.

Relieve sore throat
Mix ¼ cup of honey with ¼ cup of apple cider vinegar.  Mix together and take one tablespoon ever four hours.

You can also try gargling with about one cup of vinegar. I warn you that this is a very strong remedy if you don’t dilute with a little bit of water.  You can try gargling a few times a day and it eases the pain in your throat.

I will let you know what other ways vinegar can help you at another time. I hope these tips will help you.

Get A Flatter Stomach

If you want to have a healthier heart, you might want to go with your stomach. Now that the holidays are about over, it’s a good time to thing about getting healthier.

Here are the best ways to flatten your stomach:

Measure your stomach
The first thing you should do is measure your stomach. The amount of your waist might make you a greater risk of getting cardiovascular disease. For men, the amount is more than 40 inches. For women, the amount is more than 35 inches. The best way to take your measurements is to place a tape measure around your bare abdomen. It should be just above your hip bone. The tape measure should feel snug but not tight enough to push into your skin. The tape measure should be level all around. You should breathe out first then measure your waist.

Eat less food
This one sounds easier said than done. You have to cut your calorie intake and adopt a healthier eating plan. Try to eat smaller portions of the food you eat. You actually can lose weight through changing your diet alone, but you can lose more if you add exercise to your plan. I’ll talk about this one more in the next tip.

Exercise
You must exercise, but have to choose the right exercises. Surprisingly, crunches do not burn belly fat. That’s because it’s impossible to target fat in a particular part of the body. The best calorie burners are aerobic exercises, particularly ones that are weight-bearing. Anything that forces you to hold yourself up while you’re doing them, burns more calories. Examples are: brisk walking, running, or stair stepping. It’s important to exercise at the right intensity. You should do them until you find it a challenge to talk continuously for 30 seconds. If you are alone, test yourself by reciting the pledge of allegiance. You should also include strength training in your workout. You should fit strength training in at least three days a week.

Reduce stress
Stress tends to raise levels of appetite-boosting cortisol. Cortisol stimulates us to eat sugar and fat. Try to do some breathing exercises. Deep breathing is important. It lowers your heart rate and your blood pressure. Close your eyes and concentrate on your breathing. Breathe in to the count of four and exhale to the count of four and repeat several times.

Skip the trans fat
Trans fat is a type of saturated fat that may cause more weight gain than other fats especially in the abdomen area. Be careful of the food labels. They may claim that they don’t have trans fat, but some of them may be substituting other saturated fat products that include palm oil and coconut oil. You should include monosaturated fat with each meal if you can. This type of fat can prevent weight gain in the stomach. These foods include: olives, nuts, seeds, avocados, and dark chocolate. Since I like dark chocolate, I am glad that it’s on this list.

Avoid super low fat diets
This type of diet will make you more hungry. Try to eat a variety of healthful foods that will get you satisfied and help you avoid gaining weight.

Don’t skip meals
It will only make you hungrier which will cause you to overeat. Try to have portion-controlled meals throughout the day. That way you will curb your appetite and you won’t be as hungry.
