Natasha Richardson Dies

As you all may already know, actress Natasha Richardson (45) has passed away after injuries she suffered after her skiing accident.  It was only yesterday when I reported this when the family was deciding whether to take her off of life support.  The family took her off of life support at around 1:30 pm yesterday and she died at around 8 pm last night.  I was still trying to hold out hope that she might have pulled through until I heard on the radio that she was taken off life support.  I figured it was only a matter of time before she would pass away.

An autopsy was performed on Natasha.  The medical examiner said that the actress died of epidural hematoma because of the blow to her head.  As I reported yesterday, she had leakage on her brain and skull which lead to her being brain dead.

She was best known for her roles in The Parent Trap and Maid in Manhattan.  She was also a Tony-winning actress.  I just saw The Parent Trap a couple of weeks ago and I never imagined that this would happen to her. I also just bought Maid in Manhattan on DVD and again, I didn’t think that this would happen.

I really feel bad for her family.  They must really feel devastated by this loss because it was one that no one saw coming.  She was a healthy woman before this happened to her. She was also really young when she died.  It’s strange to know that one minute she was here and the next she was gone.  I hope that her family and friends will be okay.  As long as they have each other, they may be able to get through the loss. I’m sure this is no comfort right now, but thankfully she won’t be suffering anymore.  If she woke up from the coma, she may have ended up in a vegetative state and she may not have wanted to live like that.   I hope that this tragedy will bring more awareness to how important it is to be careful when you are skiing. The instructors should have stressed that she wore a helmet while she was skiing.  She was a first-time skier after all so the instructor should have made sure that she was wearing her helmet.  This horrible incident might have been prevented if they had made sure that she was wearing a helmet at the time.  I hope that no one else has to lose their lives this way. It’s a horrible way to die.

My heart goes out to her family and friends.  Natasha is survived by her husband, two sons, her mother, as well as other relatives.

More News About Natasha Richardson

As I reported in my blog yesterday, Natasha Richardson suffered a serious head injury in a skiing accident.  Well unfortunately, she has taken a turn for the worse.  She had to be rushed to a New York hospital because she was suffering from pains in her head.  She was fine when the incident first happened, but she ended up suffering from pain.  Now it looks like things are worse than originally reported.  Natasha reportedly has leakage on her brain and skull.

A family friend has said that there isn’t much hope that she will get better.  She is basically brain dead right now.  Her heart is beating, but her brain is dead.  The family may end up having to make a horrible decision about her.  Unfortunately, that must mean that she is hooked up to a machine and is only surviving because of it.  The family is still continuing to pray for her to get better.

I feel so bad for Natasha and her family. This must be a really horrible time for them.  She is a mother of young kids and they are possibly about to lose their mother.  It breaks my heart to think that they may lose their mother like this.  She had something to look forward to doing.  She was about to do a play with her mother actress Vanessa Redgrave and now she is in the fight of her life.  I can only imagine how her husband actor Liam Neeson is handling this too. He just had a successful movie Taken and now he has to deal with this. It’s sad to think that a celebrity couple who appeared happy together now has to deal with something like this.

I will continue to pray that she will get better.  There may still be hope for her as long the family doesn’t give up on her.  I have a cousin who just had a stroke and he slipped into a coma.  He was on a machine and he was told that he only had three days to live.  He miraculously woke up and he is getting better.  Maybe the same thing could happen for Natasha.

Bristol Palin break up

Bristol Palin (18), daughter of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin and her fiance Levi Johnston have broken up.  He is also the father of Bristol’s baby, Tripp.  They had planned to get married after they finished high school.  According to reports, they have been apart for weeks.  It’s not reported what broke them up, but they’ve been apart for weeks.  According to the source, their breakup “just happened”.  We all know what that means.  That means that they are keeping the real reason hush hush.  Maybe one of them cheated on the other and they want to keep it quiet.

Even though Bristol and Levi broke up, he still sees their son.  He wants to be a good father to his son.  I think that’s a good thing that he hasn’t deserted his son.  There aren’t too many men his age who would stay around their children.

Bristol is moving on with her life.  She is continuing her education and she plans on going to college.  She wants to study nursing in college.  That’s good for her that she still wants to continue with her education while raising her son.

Governor Palin’s family did not have any comments to make about the breakup.  Maybe she’s not really surprised that it happened and she doesn’t want to comment on it.  Perhaps she didn’t approve of their relationship and she doesn’t have anything to say about it.

I am not really all that surprised that Bristol and Levi didn’t stay together.  There are not too many young parents that stay together anymore.  Their relationship was in the public eye so that didn’t help their situation.  Maybe they couldn’t handle the public being in their business and they decided to call it quits.  I wish them the best of luck and hope that they will both be there for their son.

New Virus Affecting Facebook Accounts

computers.jpg

According to the website switched.com, there is a new virus that is harmful Facebook accounts.  It’s a Facebook “Koobface” virus.  Once you have the virus on it takes over your Facebook account and affects your profile page. Once the virus does that, your friends’ pages will get affected too.  I don’t use Facebook, but I do know people who do use it.  I wanted to pass this info along in case you all have a Facebook account.

In October 2008, it was reported that the virus Koobface surfaced.  You click on the link to racy videos that you had to download and that’s how you got the virus on your computer.  Unfortunately, it’s still around and the people who are spreading the virus are getting smarter about it.  Now it’s being disguised by emails from friends.  Here is a quote about what the virus is doing to computers now:

The basics are still the same: It’s still shown as a link to a supposed video that prompts you to install a new version of Adobe’s Flash player, the most common format used for Web videos. These days, though, that ambush page is a lot sneakier, showing the profile picture of the user whose compromised profile got you in the mess in the first place, and making the whole scam look more genuine. If you install the downloaded file, the virus will look into the stored information on your computer from Facebook, compromise your profile, and send itself to all your friends — likely making them a little less than thrilled with you.

It can’t be stressed enough that you should be careful what you open.  You shouldn’t open emails from people you are not familiar with.  You also shouldn’t open anything that has video attachments even if it’s from someone you know because their account could have been affected by the virus.  You should delete videos unless you know for a fact that the person doesn’t have the virus on their computer.  I try not to open too many emails that require me to download things.  I don’t want to take the chance that it has a virus attached to it.  I hope that you all don’t get affected by the virus.
